SRP is a party of leftist orientation, by many media considered extreme-leftisy and more or less pro-Yugoslav (or "Yugonostalgic"). The party is ruled by Stipe Šuvar, who was one of the main Croatian politicians in former Yugoslavia, better known for the (generally considered unsuccessful) school reform in the 1970s, and he last president of the League of Communists of Yugoslavia (SKJ) before the breakdown of the Socialist Yugoslavia.
Željko Heimer, 16 March 1998
The flag of SRP follows the traditional Socialist rules, as a red
flag with a golden-bordered five-pointed star in the middleand letters "SRP" in canton.
The flag was seen on TV images (HRT Dnevnik, 14 March 1998) hoisted during a party's meeting held in Pula, together with the flags of Croatia (in the middle) and of Pula (to the viewer's left), thus following the proper etiquette (national flag in the middle, local administration flag to the left, party flag to the right).
